Devlog #2: First delivery of the project

Hi everyone,

It has been exactly three weeks since the last devlog and a lot has happened!

Like you might have read on the game page, I am making this game in preparation for my upcoming exams.
Because of this, I have to deliver the prototype to our teacher who will give feedback. See it as a prototype with all the main features into it. Although I have not gotten the feedback, I do have a few things that I noticed along the way.

The first is that it is so important to let other play the game before release.
Yes, I did do this, but none of the people who tested it (including myself), tried to break the game.
What would happen when you are impatient and keep clicking to skip all the text at once? What would happen if you click on a choice before the other is even shown on screen? These are a few things I only found out during the delivery. We weren't supposed to talk to the teacher, due to the fact that you can't when someone else is playing your game. I found out some things that where... Well... unexpected. I now see that I need to make it absolutely fool-proof, need to test on ways you wouldn't even think of and letter other "non-gamers" test the game without any external (e.g. in person) explanation given. I even need to test what happens when you literally smash all the buttons on your keyboard at once.

For so far the testing. I also found out that it is very nice to have external pressure on your project. When I tend to create games for myself, I find myself losing motivation a little, putting the project of for weeks and finally forget about it. With the pressure, I seem to stick much more to everything that has to be done within a given time and that without losing motivation. This is what helps for me, so I will keep trying to set deadlines and have other people expect things from me at a given deadline. Even if it is a family member. I just don't like to disappoint others. So, I stick to the deadline of November first, assuming that I am not mistaking the set date for delivery on school and that I don't forget that I posted the project on Itch.

To summarise: I found out a lot of things about me and the project and the launch will be on November first.

Anyway,
Thanks for reading. I kept it relatively short to not spoil to much.
Have a nice day and I hope to see you on November first!
